Celebration of God with Us

Hello and Merrry Christmas to all of you! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and are able to spend time with family and friends. I have enjoyed the sounds and smells of the season. I love Christmas music and scents. I enjoy looking at the lights and even braving the crowds in the shopping centers. It’s just a fun time of year!
Because it is fun and festive, we tend to forget why we are celebrating. Much of Christmas has been totally secularized. Yes, Santa and all that goes with him is fun, but Santa is not why we celebrate. I love old Frosty the Snowman, but Frosty is not why we celebrate. The music and smells are wonderful, but they are not why we celebrate. Oh, and the presents, we can’t forget them, they are nice, but the presents are not why we celebrate.
Isaiah 9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Matthew 1:21 says, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
We celebrate Christmas because God Almighty robed Himself in flesh, came to this earth, and became the Saviour of the world. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Skipping down to verse 14 we read, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,…” I Timothy 3:16 says, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” Isaiah 7:14 says, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” This prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew 1:18-21. Verse 23 says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
The Baby born on that first Christmas night was no ordinary baby. He was the living God incarnate come to save us from our sins. His name alone says it all, JESUS, Jehovah has become our Saviour! The song “Mary Did You Know” sums it up best. If you’ve never heard this song, you owe it to yourself to listen to it some time during this season. I’m so glad God manifest Himself in flesh and came to save us! His miraculous birth brought us hope.
Miss Priss, Effie, and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. May our Wonderful Saviour, God manifest in flesh, become real to you in a very special way.
