My Favorite Restaurants & Other Thoughts

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well and that you are able to be cool. It is very hot here…well, the temperature is only around 90 degrees, but the humidity makes it feel much hotter. It is the humidity that makes our summers miserable. I am envious of those of you who live in a drier climate. However, I’m sure you have your challenges too.
I want to share a bit of info on my two favorite restaurants. I’m sure I’ve mentioned both before, but they merit another promotion. If you live near McComb, MS or Jackson, MS, you owe it to yourself to patronize these establishments.
First, let’s talk about Topisaw General Store in McComb. This is a really neat shop. They serve soups, salads, sandwiches on bread made there, wraps, pizza, desserts, etc. it’s not your normal foods though. I have eaten their Greek pizza, which was very good. I have eaten a chicken salad sandwich, which was also very good. So far, my favorites have been the turkey hummus wrap and the chicken salad wrap. They are delicious and filling. I was hesitant to order a wrap at first since I wasn’t sure if it would be enough. The guy taking my order assured me it would be enough. I ordered it thinking, “You don’t know me…” He was right and I’ve been ordering them since.
I want to try their creamy tomato soup. I have been a huge tomato soup fan all my life. Growing up, it was Campbell’s tomato soup…that was before we learned to read labels. Now I eat Pacific Naturals Organic Creamy Tomato Soup. It’s better than Campbell’s any day.
My other favorite restaurant is Aladdin Grill in Jackson. On my first visit there, I didn’t even know what hummus was. I had never heard of it. I didn’t like it when I first tried it. In fact, I didn’t like Aladdin after my first visit. I have since grown to really like both hummus and Aladdin. They have the best hummus out there. Since I started liking their food, I have liked pretty much everything I’ve tried. My favorite meal is Chicken Tecka. I highly recommend Aladdin, as well as Topisaw. We eat at one or the other every Friday.
