The Gifts of the Magi: Part II

Posted on Posted in Healthy Living, Uncategorized

Hello everyone! I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying the Christmas season, if that’s something you participate in. I personally do not care for the secular part of it, but I enjoy the change in routine. I enjoy the sounds and smells of the season.
Last week we discussed the gift of gold, possibly Balsam oil or Turmeric, brought to Jesus by the Magi. Today, we will take a look at the gift of frankincense. It’s not surprising that the Magi brought frankincense when you understand its uses.
First, it was an acknowledgement of Jesus’ priesthood, setting Him apart from a typical King. Obtaining frankincense from the East was very costly, so this gift was precious in both meaning and value.
Beyond fragrance and ceremony there are practical uses of frankincense. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, anti-microbial, etc. It is the oil to use when you don’t know which oil is best. It would have been rubbed all over Jesus’ body to prevent infection. Its healing properties are vast.
