Hello everyone! Hope your week is going well. So far, the greatest excitement around here this week has been the solar eclipse. Oh, yeah, and since my last post, my dad lost his job. The saw mill where he was the head saw filer closed indefinitely. So, that brought some excitement, just not the kind we enjoy.
My dad is semi-retired. He was only working 3 days a week. We learned of the closure of the mill on Friday. By Saturday, he already had job possibilities. The younger generation isn’t learning the saw filing trade and my dad’s generation is starting to retire. So, that leaves several jobs available. Most aren’t in Mississippi however. We would like for him to travel to these mills and train guys to do the filing job. That way, we would be able to travel!
Dad is starting Monday on a job an hour or so from home. It is with a company who owns several mills. So, maybe they will help get his name out there so we can travel. Another mill here in town also wants his help. So, he has had this week off and will be back to work Monday.
Did any of you get to see the solar eclipse? Feel free to share your experience in the comments section. We didn’t have a total eclipse here, but it did get dim. The temperature on our thermometer went from 100 down to a little over 80. We really liked that part. It was neat, but I would have loved to see the total eclipse.
Last week, we purchased the Big Berkey Water Filtration System. It arrived and after assembly we began to filter our water. We. Have a well, but we still filter our drinking water. The Burkey requires no electricity and would be great for off grid living. In a situation where one would need to bug out, the Burkey would be great. We are very pleased with it so far. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a way to purify your water.
