What Led My Family To Natural Healthcare

Hello everyone! This is a bonus post for you this week. A friend asked me what led me to natural healing and I referred her to my blog. I then searched through my posts and couldn’t find anything about our story. I can’t believe I haven’t shared it and maybe I have and overlooked it. In case I haven’t, here’s our story.

My family has always gardened. So, we have had the benefit of eating home grown foods. We have taken vitamins throughout the years, but we didn’t really know anything about natural healing.

In 2010, my dad became very sick. I feel like he either had a nervous breakdown, or came very close. It was a nightmare for all of us. The doctors couldn’t find the problem and just gave him antidepressants. We do not like these drugs and didn’t want him on them.

A minister told us about a holistic doctor and recommended that Dad see him. That doctor, and God, saved my dad’s life.

At first, I thought this doctor was crazy. I didn’t like the diet changes. Don’t mess with my ranch dressing! But I too had my health concerns. I had high blood pressure and was told I needed medication. I was thirty-two and too young to be on medication. I finally accepted a diuretic, but nothing more. I asked the doctor if there was anything natural I could do to lower my blood pressure. She said, “No.” Well, I like a challenge and that was a challenge to me. I decided to go see a naturopath.

The naturopath put me on several supplements. She used a brand that was very expensive and was costing me over $200 a month. I couldn’t do that, so I went to the doctor I had labeled as a quack…the one who dared to take away my ranch dressing.

He threw the diuretic across the room and told me how harmful it was. I thought I had done well and chosen the lesser of the evils. He showed me how wrong I was.

He got me on the right path. My mom was also having blood pressure problems and he helped her too. She was even diagnosed with a-fib and he helped her beat that with proper supplementation.

We cleaned up our diet. Yes, we threw out the ranch dressing and a lot of other stuff. We felt so much better. We took an Ayurvedic herb that was a miracle worker for lowering blood pressure. After taking it full strength for a week, I had to lower my dose. Now, I take it as needed. My blood pressure is practically perfect. And guess what? I did it naturally!

I was really impressed with the naturopath and the holistic doctor. I thought that I would love to go in to the natural health field. However, I couldn’t figure out how I could get the required education. I’m legally blind, so I can’t drive. All the colleges offering the education I needed were hundreds of miles from my home. So, the possibilities looked nonexistent.

One day my mom was reading a Mother Earth magazine and came across an advertisement for a school of natural health in Indiana that offered long-distance studies. I called them and it looked very promising. I enrolled in a 4 degree program. I was able to do everything from home. It was a work at your on pace, but be finished by a certain time kind of deal. I worked at like it was a job. I spent 8 plus hours a day, usually 6 days a week working. I was so afraid my visual impairment would slow me down and I wouldn’t make the deadline. I actually finished in record time, according to the school, in the top 3 or 4 earliest completions. And I made good grades to boot.

As I was finishing up those degrees, which were Certified Health Specialist, Certified nutrition Counsellor, Master Herbalist, & Naturopathic Doctor, I learned about another program that was more like the holistic doctor that my dad went to. I enrolled in this program and did it online. After completing my intern work, I became a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner. Later, I ordered the materials to become a Certified Body Code Practitioner.

In my short time seeing clients I have seen several situations reversed. I’ve seen debilitating back pain removed, blood pressure lowered, arm pain removed, etc. I have even helped animals overcome sickness. You can read one of my favorite stories in my posts about the Amish people I have been privileged to help. I have seen an eighteen-year-old Amish girl go from tightly closed lips due to fear of saying a bad word, to a girl who can now smile and answer my questions. She even has a job now. It’s pretty incredible.

I’m not the greatest doctor out there, but I’m learning. I listen to webinars, podcasts, etc. and I’m learning from the best. I hope my story encourages you on your health journey. God has provided everything we need to heal our bodies naturally. He gave us herbs, plants, trees, water, etc. We don’t have to be dependent on manmade drugs. Eat clean food, drink clean water, and supplement with clean sources of vitamins, herbs, and minerals. Utilize essential oils. God has given them for our use. The leaves of the trees are for our healing.

  1. I loved reading your story about your journey to natural health. I also use essential oils, they have fantastic benefits. My hubby and I have also had some health issues for which we have been following a high fat/ low carb lifestyle. It has done amazing things for us! We are so thankful! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
